Do You Know an Ingenue?

An ingénue
Is someone who
Would never tell a lie
She’s simple, young, and innocent
And never is a guy

You might say she’s ingenuous
Or you could say naive
They both mean “inexperienced”
And both are French words, I believe

But what of people who pretend
To be naive for evil ends?
We call them disingenuous
Don’t trust a word they say to us

An ingénue
Is someone who
Would never tell a lie
She’s simple, young, and innocent
And never is a guy
