Tempo

The tempo of a song is the speed at which it’s played
It helps to add the rhythm to the rhyme
And tempo comes from Latin as so many words do
When a Roman said tempus she was talking ‘bout time
When a Roman said tempus she was talking ‘bout time

When you speak of something that is happening now
You can say that it’s contemporary
What happened in the past occurred in bygone days
You could say that those two words are quite contrary
I’m talking about bygone and contemporary

Nothing lasts forever, that’s sad but true
You could say that everything is temporary
The world exists in time, it’s a temporal place
I wouldn’t blame you if you found the thought a little scary
That’s why the Bible tells us to ‘eat drink and be merry’

The tempo of a song is the speed at which it’s played
It helps to add the rhythm to the rhyme
And tempo comes from Latin as so many words do
When a Roman said tempus she was talking ‘bout time
When a Roman said tempus she was talking ‘bout time
